How does one tree planted work?

The One Tree Planted scheme at Tinware Direct is designed to offset the company’s estimated import emissions for containers, making them carbon neutral. This initiative applies to both stock and bespoke areas of the business and is based on the emissions calculated for the 2017/18 period.

Trees are planted in the Amazon Rainforest and in developing regions like Ghana, providing not only carbon offset but also social and environmental benefits such as increased biodiversity, job creation, food for communities, climate regulation, and maintenance of natural water cycles.

Additionally, Tinware Direct uses DPD’s carbon-neutral delivery service for most orders, ensuring that onward shipping to customers is also carbon-neutral.

Tinware Direct is also committed to the UNFCCC Race to Net Zero scheme through the SME Climate Hub, aiming to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2045. This commitment focuses on reducing emissions rather than just offsetting them.

All emissions are calculated using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), and the reductions and offsets are guided by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
